News | Program: Georgia Community Action and Linkages for Legal Socialization

GE Calls school program presentations | 5 Nov 2015


Starting from September 2015, presentations were held in each target regions of GE CALLs  2015-2016: Ozurgeti, Gurjaani, Zugdidi and  Borjomi.  The information meetings were arranged in close cooperation with local Resource Centers of the Ministry of Education and Science and were attended by school principals, deputy principals and teachers of civil education from each school in the region.

Studying at The Academy of Success Starts with Exciting Game | 5 Nov 2015


On October 25, Sunny House held a Big Game for participants of the project The Academy of Success 2. Beneficiaries were divided into four teams and tasked to reach Bulbulebis Chala (Nightingales’ Gorge) from Turtle Lake, fulfill various assignments on their way, collect tips and unriddle a code word.

Informal meetings with SROs and Police officers for elementary classes | 5 Nov 2015


In August 2015,  the trainer of youth center and informal education was hired by GE Calls to create detailed modules for SROs, teachers and police officers  to facilitate the meetings with elementary school students.The goal of the meetings is to raise awareness regarding such issues as: childrens’ rights, healthy lifestyle, road safety, conflict management and others. Since the meetings are mostly led by SROs and patrol police officers together with teachers, this will enhance positive attitude of children towards law enforcers and  will help to develop friendly relationships with SROs.

GE CALLS Funds 6 New Community Initiatives Throughout Georgia | 23 Sep 2015


Georgia Community Action and Linkages for Legal Socialization (GE CALLS) continues awarding grants for implementation of community initiatives throughout Georgia. This year six new projects will be implemented in Tbilisi, Gurjaani, Borjomi, Kutaisi, Ozurgeti and Zugdidi. GE CALLS hosted all partner NGOs during the Community Initiatives Cluster Meeting on September 16. The meeting was attended by the representatives of program donor, The US Department of States’ International Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL).

National Bank of Georgia Representative Meets Rustavi Project Participants | 20 May 2015


On May 19, GE CALLS-funded Financial Literacy project in Rustavi hosted a very special guest – Mr. Giorgi Bakradze, Advisor of the President of the National Bank of Georgia. Mr. Bakradze had a meeting with project participants and delivered a presentation on role, functions and operation of the main financial institution of the country.

Civil Responsibility Board Second Panel Session | 4 May 2015


The second panel session of Civic Responsibility Board was held on May 3 at RICDOG office in Kutaisi. Four groups of students (Active Citizens, Passive Citizens, Responsible Citizens and Experts) presented resolutions they worked on during several weeks.
According to the rules, all the participants are assigned specific roles, so during the session, as well as other activities, they were dressed accordingly.
After 4-hour work, the resolution was approved. The name of the document is On Creation of Healthy Environment for Proper Development of Juveniles.

Positive influence of police officers on school life | 15 Apr 2015


Partnership between schools community and police has grown stronger thanks to the Legal Culture lessons that are currently in progress in five major cities of Georgia: Batumi, Tbilisi, Rustavi and Kutaisi.  Specially trained police officers and experienced teachers of civil education have joined their creative and professional competencies to deliver interesting, dynamic and creative lessons to 9th graders of the schools that are involved in GE CALLs program.

The method of teaching is interactive and student-based, where police officers provide information and advice based on their practical experience. The topics are about legal culture, about police officers work, juvenile and legislative framework, violence, violence and juvenile, domestic violence, bad habits and their results, organized crime, trafficking, judiciary etc
