News | Program: Georgia Community Action and Linkages for Legal Socialization

40 representatives of schools from different regions of Georgia ready to start lessons of legal Culture Basics in 7th grades | 18 Nov 2013


On November 15-18 four-day workshop was delivered to the selected schools from four regions to train the teachers and school resource officers in the 7th grade legal socialization curriculum (Textbook Basics of Legal Culture) and techniques of team teaching.
Training was led by the leading civil education experts, psychologists and legal experts. They discussed the legislative aspects, importance of the Legal Culture curriculum at schools and conflict resolution methods. The experts also covered the impact of bullying and discrimination, cyberbullying, managing the delinquency at school environment, and about understanding the psychology of teenagers.

First round of workshops resulted in 20 legal culture action plans submitted by schools from four regions of Georgia. | 7 Nov 2013


PH International Ge Calls team together with the leading civil education experts Nino Kvitaishvili and Giorgi Gakheladze have finalized the first round of GE-Calls workshops in four different regions Akhaltsikhe, Kashuri, Poti and Telavi. The workshops aimed to improve the awareness of school administration about the importance of legal culture at schools, to help them clarify priorities, define expected results and outcomes for each school, and identify the best approaches and activities to achieve desired results and outcomes.

First Winners of Small Grants Program Identified | 1 Nov 2013


In the framework of Community-based Component, GE CALLS initiated Small Grants Program for local NGOs. The program aims to promote community initiatives for juvenile crime prevention.
The first Call for Proposals was announced in September 2013. Local NGOs from Telavi, Khashuri, Poti and Akhaltsikhe were given a chance to win funding to undertake innovative and creative actions involving youth and representatives of local community.

Legal culture action plans were created by five schools in Poti. | 28 Oct 2013


The first round of GE Calls workshops for the selected school administrations took start in Poti, on October 18, 2013. The purpose of the training is the creation of legal culture development action plans of the schools.
he trainings were led by Civil Education experts Giorgi Gakheladze and Nino Kvitaishvili. During the three days they covered the topics of legal culture, juvenile justice, characteristics of the specific age-groups, effective communication, etc.

GE CALLS Partner Schools Selected | 15 Oct 2013


GE CALLS selected 20 partner schools in 4 cities of Georgia. Selection process was competitive and the winners will participate in GE CALLS School Based Prevention Programs.
The schools applied online after Program presentation in Telavi, Khashuri, Pori and Akhaltsikhe. Selection was made based on motivation letters describing schools' vision of crime prevention.

GE CALLS Program Presentation in Four Cities of Georgia | 4 Oct 2013


In September GE CALLS held presentations of two components in Telavi, Khashuri, Poti and Akhaltsikhe.
In total 35 schools in all four regions were informed on program concept and given instructions how to participate in the school-based programs.
Presentations of Community-led Initiatives Component and Small Grants Program were attended by 60 representatives from 36 NGOs of four regions.

GE CALLS Getting Ready for the Pilot Year | 27 Aug 2013


On July 1, 2013 PH International started a new program Georgia Community Action and Linkages for Legal Socialization (GE CALLS). The goal of GE CALLS program is to prevent/reduce recurrence of juvenile delinquency and continue progress towards adoption of restorative justice approaches in cooperation with GoG, local communities, NGOs, private sector and international community.
