On July 1, 2013 PH International started a new program Georgia Community Action and Linkages for Legal Socialization (GE CALLS). The goal of GE CALLS program is to prevent/reduce recurrence of juvenile delinquency and continue progress towards adoption of restorative justice approaches in cooperation with GoG, local communities, NGOs, private sector and international community.
IDEA-Konotop Center, affiliated with Konotop-based NGO “Nove Zhyttya” (New Life) carried out a five-day round of consultations for the youth on topics related to preparation to job interview, personal growth, and job search techniques.
On July 24, 2013 ACETT program organized roundtable “Informed Media about Civic Education”. The goal of the event was to provide current status of school civic education to media representatives.
On July 29 – 31, 2013, Bakuriani hosted second Advanced Social Media Camp for school based civics club students. 35 participants from all over Georgia were selected based on their activism and interests in social media.
On June and July, 2013 Bazaleti Training Center hosted three rounds of civics summer camp for ACETT’s 306 students and civics teachers from all regions of Georgia.
On July 23, 2013 Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Committee of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of the Parliament of Georgia and Civics Club of village Chkhari Public School on conducting joint ecological projects and activities.
From July 10-28, PH International's Intensive Course for Teachers of English (ICTE) program implemented the Teacher Training Summer Camp (TTSC) for 20 Georgian English language teachers and 60 students aged 13-17 from across the country. The Summer Camp took place in Tskaltubo - a resort seven kilometers away from the city of Kutaisi.
TTSC participant teachers were selected through a merit-based competition that included online application and Skype or telephone interviews with PH International and World Learning-SIT representatives. Students for the Summer Camp participation were selected from among the 258 economically and socially disadvantaged youth enrolled in PH International’s another English Access Micro-scholarship (Access) Program implemented throughout Georgia. Among the main criteria for student selection were students’ attendance record and Performance score throughout participation in the Access Program, discipline record and leadership potential.
After a two day pre-departure orientation in Tbilisi, 30 English Language teachers from seven regions of Georgia departed for the U.S for an intensive 18-day-long Training of Trainers Summer Institute (TOTSI) held on the World Learning - SIT campus in Brattleboro, Vermont.
