Summer camp for civics students in Bazaleti

On June and July, 2013 Bazaleti Training Center hosted three rounds of civics summer camp for ACETT’s 306 students and civics teachers from all regions of Georgia. Participation in a camp was a reward for those students, who made efforts to resolve the issues critical for their schools and communities, led and participated in civics projects and were ready to exchange ideas and experiences with their peers from other regions. In a camp, students learned more about civic activism and independent initiative, got in groups to design the projects, which will meet the needs of their regions. Camp also offered many activities for fun and leisure, students became good friends, created groups in social network and continued to interact with each other once the camp was completed. In the camp of 2013, participants had an opportunity to meet with competent and prominent guests. Students have met with Danielle Reiff USAID Democracy and Governance office Director, Aluda Goglichidze, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Journalists: Gocha Tkeshelashvili for GPB youth program “Etaloni”, Davit Paichadze from TV company GPB and Nino Zhizhilashvili from TV company “Maestro” and basketball player of Georgian national team Anatoli Boisa. Guests shared with students experience of self-involvement in civics activates in youth and answered the students’ questions. Summer camp was held in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), implemented by PH International in Georgia.
