On October 20, 2012, a follow-up meeting was held in Telavi with civics teachers trained within the framework of Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program. ACETT is implemented by PH International in Georgia and funded by USAID.
On October 23rd, Khashuri school #2 hosted an open lesson in civics with 9th grade students, led by civics teacher Jilda Gelashvili. Students discussed the topics of trafficking and safe migration.
ELCE Participant Teacher Inga Gelashvili from Rustavi Public School #4 took the ELCE topic of Democratic Institutions and expanded it to help with her school’s student, self-government elections.
On October 19, organized an enrichment session on Negotiation Skills and Strategies. The session was facilitated by Access Program English Teachers in Rustavi Ketevan Maisuradze and Thea Odisharia.
-On October 17, graduates of Rivne City Collegium met with the IDEA - Rivne Center Coordinator to discuss risks of employment abroad. Of cause, students that particiaated in the meeting are still children, however they already getting ready to independent living when they have to take serious decisions. During the seminar, the gradutes found about rules of safe travel abroad, and advantages of legal employment vs illegal. They also learned how the IDEA Center help youth to find local employment.
On Oct. 12, the English ACCESS MicroScholarship Program brought together 60 students and their teachers from Diljan, Nor Hachn, and Chambarak to participate in a networking event based in Dilijan’s High School. The event offered the students a chance to know their peers from other program sites, to meet alumni of U.S. government funded PH programs and, the representatives of the Public Affairs Section in the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
On October 10, a social worker of the NGO "Chayka" that runs the IDEA Center in RIvne met with yong people left without parental care. The topic of the meeting was discussing future employment and earning means for living by the youth. Ms Tetyana Bilkovska, the IDEA Center's specialist told the young people about possibilities provided by the IDEA - RIvne Center, including free-of-charge training courses and consultations, Internet access, and employment assistance.
On October 9, the next seminar for unemployed took place at the Ivan-Frankivsk City Employment Center. The topic of the seminar was preparation to a job interview and writing a resume. The semuinar participants exchanges their job search experience. Especially interesting for partiipants was the theme of job search via Internet. The coordinator of the IDEA project presented the IDEA courses and invited the seminar partiipants to undertake IDEA training, so some of the seminar participants enrolled to the training program.
On October 9, pupils of the Chudel Boarding School met with social workers and the IDEA Rivne Center's coordinator. The topic of the conversation was very serious - harmful habbits and their consequences. The pupils themselves named harmful habbits that hinder people's lives. The children pointed out to smoking, alcohol, drug dependancies, and overusing and misusing computer games and Internet. After discussing the problem, everyone agreed that one should not at all start use narcotics, alcohol, and tobacco. However, one should learn how to work in Internet but work safely, and then Internet will become one's friend.
