On April 24, Akhaltiskhe Legal Club held an event dedicated to the problem of gambling among youth. The event started with presentation about gambling, describing the root causes why youth get involved and the negative outcomes of it. The students also admitted that the Government of Georgia should inflict some restrictions on gambling houses. Club members had held a survey aiming at revealing popularity of gambling among youth in Akhaltsikhe. The results were presented during the event. According to the results of the survey, majority of Akaltsikhe youth are interested in gambling and visit gambling houses. Project participants made a short film depicting destructive effect of the gambling on young people. The presentation of the material was followed by Q&A session and discussion. Among the guests were lawyers, psychologist, principals and administration of two public schools. By the end of the event project representatives suggested to hold the same meeting in schools so that more young people are aware of the problem. The suggestion was eagerly accepted by schools’ principals.
