Position Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of Development is a key full-time role focused on driving strategic development and fundraising initiatives. Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer, this position collaborates closely with the Development & Communications Manager and works alongside staff from our global field offices. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in expanding our fundraising efforts and making a meaningful impact across the organization.
- Lead the development of compelling grant proposals for U.S. government and foundation funding, aligning with PH’s mission and goals.
- Identify and research grant opportunities that support our initiatives, while mapping out potential partners, competitors, and experts to strengthen proposals.
- Prepare comprehensive proposal packages for donor submission, including technical narratives, budgets, past performance references, CVs, evaluation tables, and logic models, for donor submissions.
- Collaborate with program teams to identify renewal and new funding opportunities, contributing to program development strategies.
- Support the growth of our individual giving program, expanding our donor base and fostering deeper relationships.
- Track fundraising progress and prepare detailed reports for the Board of Directors, ensuring clear communication of development goals and achievements.
- Produce and disseminate engaging quarterly online newsletters to keep supporters informed and connected.
- Take on additional duties as needed to support organizational growth and fundraising efforts.
The role is a good fit if you have:
- 5+ years of development experience, preferably with an international organization, including expertise in writing and coordinating successful proposals for U.S. government funding and foundations.
- Proven project implementation and management experience, with a strong track record in monitoring and evaluation to ensure impactful outcomes.
- Expertise in developing project budgets, ensuring financial accuracy and alignment with project goals.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and fostering strong relationships.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and time-management abilities, enabling efficient execution in fast-paced environments.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively, taking initiative while also contributing to a dynamic team effort.
- Acute attention to detail, ensuring high-quality work and consistency in all deliverables.
- Versatility, creativity, and adaptability, with a positive, enthusiastic approach to evolving priorities and the ability to thrive under pressure.
- A work style rooted in patience, active listening, mentoring, and facilitating the success of development projects through collaboration and thoughtful guidance.

Salary
$55-70K, commensurate with experience
Flexible Hybrid/Remote Work Schedule
Enjoy a flexible work arrangement with the option for remote or hybrid work. If hybrid, the role includes in-office collaboration at the Waitsfield office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and working remotely on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Preference to work fully remote with periodic visits to the Vermont office will be discussed with qualified candidates.
