Peer Clubs of Legal Education Ready for Independent Work

Georgia | Georgian Legal Socialization Project | 17 Apr 2013

A final Youth Camp, held April 3-9, 2013 in Bakuriani, Georgia, served as the culmination of the Peer Legal Clubs component of PH's highly successful Georgia Legal Socialization Program. The camp gathered 52 members of Legal Clubs from 10 cities in Georgia. Participants were selected as delegates by their club-mates through open and transparent elections, which was one of the success stories of the component. The camp program included evaluation of Legal Club activities and the project in general as well as planning of future work of Legal Clubs in all cities. Although GLSP will not be able to provide any financial or program support to the clubs due to the end of the program at the end of April, the club-members are full of motivation to continue their work independently. The Legal Clubs Mentors trained within the program are also ready to devote their time and energy to the further development of Legal Clubs component. Several follow-up projects are planned by the mentors and club-members, aiming to guarantee sustainable development of the clubs through different fundraising and program-related initiatives.
