Trainings on Delivery of Newly Developed Manual for 7th Grade Students

Georgia | Georgian Legal Socialization Project | 1 Feb 2012

In November and December, 2011 GLSP conducted trainings on delivery of newly developed manual “Introduction to Legal Culture” for teachers, police officers and school wardens of the selected schools of Rustavi and Tbilisi. The mentioned manual will be delivered to the students from thirty 7th grade classes of 10 schools.
The training was delivered by GLSP experts and co-authors of the manual Lika Gigauri, Certified International Coach, Maka Peradze, Head of the Department of International Programs at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Elguja Makalatia, Head of Analytical Department at the Police Academy of Georgia.
The positive attitude toward a new component was obvious in the post-tests completed by the training participants. All of them highlighted the overall importance of the program for improving general behavior of juveniles, since the manual touches on the most vulnerable problems typical for kids of this age. The training participants remarked that the training helped them to better understand who may be best working with juveniles to achieve desired results.
In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the training, the training participants filled in the pre and post- tests. After comparing the pre and posts test results, it became obvious that knowledge of teachers and police officers in psychological, legal and teaching techniques issues have significantly improved.
Training participants will further apply gained skills and expertise to conduct lessons in Legal Culture in 7th grade classes.
