The goal of the Macedonia Legal Socialization Program (MAK LSP) is to strengthen the rule of law
and reduce levels of juvenile crime through an integrated approach that educates youth on the law
by raising the community awareness on juvenile justice issues. MAK LSP addresses this goal through
a pilot educational program reaching 300-360 youth in the Republic of Macedonia that brings 30
teachers and 12 police officers together as teaching teams in a unique process of experiential
learning in mixed ethnic environments to work with youth in schools, using a student-centered
approach for the transfer of knowledge and skills in ways that build understanding and relationships
among these different groups. MAK LSP is supported by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of
International Narcotics and Law Enforcement.
