ELCE Program participating teachers from Telavi (Maka Dakishvili, Natalia Datishvili, Marie Kurashvili, Natalia Bondarenko, Anna Giorganashvili and Tamar Natsvlishvili) took part in the ETAG Regional Conferences for English teachers in Rustavi and Akhaltsikhe on May 17 and May 27 to conduct presentations on ELCE Program civics materials of Professional and Life Choices; Diversity and Multiculturalism; and Volunteerism and Public Participation.ELCE Program participants demonstrated to the audience how they used flashcards, integrated reading activities with mime for younger learners, and used music to foster learning with first grade students. Conference participants were very impressed by the ELCE teachers’ performance as a result of which many English language teachers from Rustavi and Akhaltsikhe present at the conference expressed strong desire to participate in English Language through Civic Education Program, once it expands to their regions.

“Having ELCE participating teachers act as workshop leaders in conferences gives them confidence to develop their teacher training skills and at the same time, makes it possible to reach a wider audience of teachers”, said Judy Elliott, ELCE Program ELTT in Telavi. “These teachers truly deserve applause for their courage to present in front of such a large audience of strangers and their enthusiasm to share their knowledge and experience with others”, she concluded.
