Free Medical Examination for Students in Guria

Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 26 Feb 2014

Civics club students in the village Shemokmedi in Guria organized the visit of medical personnel for free examination of 50 students in their school. Based on students’ initiative, general practitioners and nurses from the local medical center visited the school on February 11 and 12 and provided general medical examination at no charge. The cases of scoliosis, eyesight disturbances and dental problems were identified among students, who were referred to the Ozurgeti Central Clinic for further treatment. The same civics club students have invited specialists from a local clinic to deliver a training on first aid. Medical professionals provided the needed information and involved students in practical exercises. “It is very important to know how to provide first aid before the doctor or emergence group arrives” - said Maka Mamaladze, one of participant students at the end of the training.
