Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 27 Feb 2014

Students from School-based civics clubs in Tbilisi organized blood donation campaign for children with leukemia. They have prepared and disseminated flyers in public places and used social media to spread information among peers. They have also informed Blood Bank about the planned initiative. Blood donation action took place on January 29, 2014 at Tbilisi public school #99 with support of Blood Bank representatives and with participation of students from four different schools. A total of 23 volunteers donated blood and eight liters were collected for young patients. Students have also collected scrap paper which can be exchanged into new books by the support of company Palitra L. Students plan to take these books to the hospital for children with leukemia. Action was carried out in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), which is implemented by PH International in Georgia.
