Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 14 Jan 2014

Civics club students of Batumi public school #14 decided to carry out informational campaign to prevent people from cutting down Christmas trees. Environmental Protection Department of Adjara provided students with brochures describing environmental hazards caused by deforestation. After gaining the support from Batumi Mayor’s office, students conducted a street action in Batumi and called public for the protection of Christmas trees, distributed brochures and small artificial Christmas trees. They have also organized an open-air concert to wish a happy New Year to local residents. Action took place in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, which is implemented by PH International in Georgia.
