USAID Deputy Mission Director Meets with Civic Club Students in Batumi

On November 22, 2013 Mr. Roy Plucknett, USAID Deputy Mission Director visited Batumi public school # 2 to meet with the civics club students from different partner schools of the ACETT program in Adjara region. First, Mr. Plucknett visited the civic club room of the school, where club members introduced the club environment and exhibited all the key achievements. After the civic club room orientation, students had an opportunity to present of all the activities civic clubs are involved and spoke about the initiatives, achievements and cooperation with decision makers for advocating and solving schools and community problems. Students also introduced civics club students’ alliance, established within the ACETT program which unites 40 school based civics clubs of Adjara region. During the presentation civic club blogs and video film about civics club activities was presented. In the end of the meeting Mr. Roy Plucknett thanked students for the interesting presentations and answered student’s questions. He also underlined the importance of the civic education and involvement of the students in the democratic processes as future leaders of the country. The meeting was organized in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), which is implemented by PH International in Georgia and funded by USAID.
