Civics camps for young leaders

Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 22 Jul 2013

On June 20-26, 2013 Bazaleti Training Center hosted civics summer camp for ACETT’s 90 students and civics teachers from all regions of Georgia. Participation in a camp is a reward for those students, who made efforts to resolve the issues critical for their schools and communities, led and participated in civics projects and are ready to exchange ideas and experiences with their peers from other regions. In a camp, students learn more about civic activism and independent initiative, get in groups to design the projects, which will meet the needs of their regions. Camp also offers many activities for fun and leisure, students become good friends, create groups in social network and continue to interact with each other once the camp is completed. In the first camp of 2013, participants had an opportunity meet with competent and prominent guests. Students have met with basketball player of Georgian national team Anatoli Boisa, civics expert Nino Beselia and the Head of the Alliance for the Safe Roads, Maya Kobalia. Summer camp was held in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), implemented by PH International in Georgia.
