Online conference with Public Defender of Georgia

On April 24, 2013 students’ online conference with Public Defender of Georgia was held at Tbilisi Multimedia Education Center. Ucha Nanuashvili, Public Defender of Georgia, answered the questions of students from Tbilisi school-based civics clubs. Many questions were also received via skype from students in all 10 regions of Georgia, who also took part in online conference. Questions asked by students mostly addressed current situation in terms of the protection of human rights in Georgia. Public Defender spoke about current situation regarding the rights of minorities, IDPs and children with disabilities, touched on about increased cases of crime and public defender’s responses to violation of human rights, he also spoke about issues related to juvenile justice. Students expressed willingness to volunteer in the activities of public defender’s office and discussed with him opportunities for further collaboration. Online conference was held in the framework of Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), which is implemented by PH International in Georgia.
