Youth for World No Tobacco Day

On May 31, 2013 school-based civics club students of Imereti and Adjara regions organized different activities dedicated to World No Tobacco Day. Youth aimed to draw public attention to the widespread prevalence of tobacco use and to its negative effects on human health. Students have organized marshes and informational campaigns and met with different organization to discuss the issues of smoking in public places. In Kutaisi 75 students took part in trainings about the harm of smoking. Students have also prepared and presented Flash Mob Show for public. Civics club students of Adjara region organized an action in Batumi central park, dedicated to World No Tobacco Day. They have disseminated brochures about the negative influence of tobacco and alcohol on health. Students offered smokers in the park to exchange cigarettes for sweets. Activities were organized in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), which is implemented by PH International in Georgia and funded by USAID.
