Quiz for School Students “Ethnoses and Religions in Georgia”

On December 11, 2012, in Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel a quiz “Ethnoses and Religions in Georgia” was organized by Tolerance Centre under Public Defender. The goal of the quiz was promoting culture of tolerance in Georgia, increasing the level of knowledge related to religious and ethnic diversity in Georgia for senior high school students and popularization of the encyclopedias – “Religions in Georgia” and “Ethnoses in Georgia” – prepared and published by the Centre. Participants of the quiz were civics club students from 10 Tbilisi public partner schools of Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT) implemented by PH International and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Students were prepared for the quiz using the encyclopedias provided by Tolerance center. At the beginning of the quiz Public Defender of Georgia Mr. Ucha Nanuashvili welcomed the participants and said that participation in such competitions is already success for them as they gain level of knowledge which will help them in development of democratic society. The members of jury were representatives of Public Defender’s office, PH International and Director of National Library. Winner of the quiz became team of the Georgian British academy. All the participants of the quiz were awarded by presents and certificates. After the quiz participants had opportunity to visit and got information about history and traditions of Synagogue, Mosque, Gregorian and Catholic churches all located in the old part of Tbilisi.
