USAID Democracy and Governance Office Director Visited Civics Clubs in Kutaisi

On October 31, 2012, Ms. Danielle Reiff, the Democracy and Governance Office Director of USAID, and Mrs. Marina Ushveridze, ACETT Program Director, visited Kutaisi public school #17 to attend an event organized by the school's civics club to present students’ photo exhibition and activities they've conducted in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT) implemented by PH International. Mrs. Marina Ushveridze welcomed guests and participants and gave an overview of the goals, expected results and implementation of the ACETT program. Civics clubs students from various ACETT partner schools in Imereti region gave presentations of results achieved through activities and initiatives they've undertaken, some with support from the mini-grant component of the ACETT program. At the end of the meeting Ms. Danielle Reiff thanked students, teachers and school administration for their interesting presentation and spoke about importance of the civics education and involvement of the students in the democracy development processes in the country through the ACETT program. “I am very much existed and impressed by what I have seen and heard today... you are very active. Please, go ahead and keep being active” said Ms. Danielle Reiff at the end of the meeting. The event was also attended by the Head of the Education Resource Center of Kutaisi, civics teachers, students and school administrators from different schools of Kutaisi.
