Fostering Community Engagement

USAID Civic Education Program (2022-2025)

This program invested in Georgia’s next generation by equipping young people and educators with the leadership, technology, and problem-solving skills needed to contribute to stronger communities and a more capable workforce.

CEP brought together students, teachers, school administrators, universities, youth organizations, Education Resource Centers, and private-sector partners to strengthen practical, student-centered education. Students in grades 7–12 developed leadership skills, worked on community projects, explored new technologies, and built partnerships with local organizations and businesses. The program also supported teachers with new resources and experiential approaches to help students apply what they learned beyond the classroom.

A key priority was expanding opportunity beyond Georgia’s largest cities. CEP helped schools in smaller and more remote communities access new teaching resources, digital tools, and professional development, while supporting a new generation of teachers entering the profession.

By strengthening young people’s skills, expanding connections between schools and the private sector, and supporting locally led solutions, CEP helped build Georgia’s capacity for long-term economic and civic development. The program also strengthened the people-to-people relationships and institutional partnerships that underpin a strong U.S.–Georgia relationship.
