Teaching Advancement Program: Teachers of Tomorrow (2023-2025)
PH is working with three Georgian university partners who offer pre-service teacher education programs and increase the knowledge, skills, and competencies of teacher educators. This is accomplished through an interconnected series of activities including a needs assessment, a U.S. study tour, webinars, curriculum co-development, visits by U.S. educational experts, and collaborative efforts including implementation grants to all three university partners.
The strategic objectives of the TOT program are to:
- Enhance the professional capacity of teacher educators in Georgia and provide them with practical strategies to accommodate change in their teaching practices and in the content of their programs.
- Improve the efficacy of pre-service practicum training at three leading Georgian universities to benefit future teachers and partner schools.
Increase collaboration and networking among teacher educators to develop joint efforts and collectively solve problems. As a result of the program, modern, student-centered teacher preparation programs will increase the quality of general education in Georgia, leading to more critical thinking and a sense of agency among students to effect positive change in their communities and country.
