American Spaces Training Program (2023-2028)

American Spaces Training Program (ASDLTP) aims to strengthen the network of American Spaces in 16 selected countries across Europe and Central Asia.

The program includes development and implementation of four countering foreign propaganda modules in 16 local languages reaching over 15,000 citizens in Europe and Central Asia. The modules introduce approaches to countering foreign propaganda, tactics for recognizing and exposing trolls and bots, and detecting and countering hate speech through a unique, comprehensive method of gamification.

To effectively counter foreign propaganda and promote programming, American Spaces worldwide is offered a unified social media guide and tailored social media action plans that resonate with the target audiences in each country.

American Spaces coordinators from 33 countries in Europe and Central Asia will meet in person at skill-building, information and networking workshops. These workshops will allow participants to share best practices, build their network, and promote America First worldwide.

The program also offers four cultural visits to the U.S. for American Spaces coordinators from around the world. These visits develop the coordinators’ understanding of American values, democratic principles, and the importance of media freedom, and how American Spaces play a critical role in advancing these concepts.

Primary program partner countries are Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, North Macedonia, Poland, Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, and Azerbaijan.   The program is implemented with two partners, Debunk.org based in Lithuania and the Center for Strategy and Development (GSD) based in Georgia.

ASDLTP is funded by the Office of American Spaces, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.
