On October 1, 2010, program staff from the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT) met with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs to provide information about ACETT and discuss priorities and activities of the program.
Ten Belorussian professionals are being hosted in Vermont for three weeks under the Community Connections Program to learn about new models for serving children with disabilities in schools.
During the 3-days youth leadership school young leaders call young people to go back to reality, and not live in the virtual world: «We can go back to the real life, to the real communications, value personal meetings, but not letters on the screen!!! Be the clever user of Internet!». According to the trainer of school of youth leadership, IT-trainer of IDEA center Sergey Slyn'ko – greater part of young people suffers from online dependence in the world. And for this reason it is needed to educate the children and youth about smart rules of using the Internet.
To search the new approach to the solving of socially important problems 35 activists of Cherkassy were taught at school of youth leadership.
On September 22, Armenian Police and Ministry of Education and Science in collaboration with PH International officially launched the School Resource Officers’ initiative in Armenia as part of the State Policy of Crime Prevention National Plan. The pilot phase includes SROs’ placement in 10 Yerevan high schools (schools # 119, 127, 118, 198, 139, 184, 105, 65, 29, and 114). The SROs will work closely with the school administration and school teachers to foster safe learning environment at schools and positive relationship with youth. They will also help identify at risk youth and assist with intervention before serious problems occur. As part of their activities, the SROs together with the school teachers will teach students ZANG legal socialization classes.
On September 27 IDEA trainers have conducted a training on "How to act in conflict situation" for unemployed citizens of Konotop. The training took place at the city employment center.
On September 25, 2010, PH International organized a review of the draft national civic education curriculum in the framework of the USAID-funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program. The event was held in Tbilisi, attended by experts from professional associations, local and international organizations, academics, civics teachers and school directors.
During 3 days 35 young activists from the different districts of Chessy Region mastered knowledge and bases of public leadership. To attention of participants the series of trainings were offered on project and financial management, organization of social street actions, possibilities of public activity, leadership, team work and number of intellectual entertaining games.
On September 20, specialist of local branch of Association of Taxpaers of Ukraine in Zaporizzhya oblast have organized business lunch for members of Association and leading entrepreneurs of Melitopol city and region. Having a cup of tea, entrepreneurs and local government representatives had a productive disscusion.
