PH International Holds U.S Department of State Youth TechCamp at Champlain College

Twenty six U.S. Department of State-sponsored International high school students from 16 different countries around the globe attended PH International's one-week Youth TechCamp at Champlain College  from March 22-28. Students met with industry professionals and trainers to gain insights and understanding of real world applications of social and digital media, develop strategic action plans, and received training on advanced social and digital media platforms and technologies. Ultimately, participants will train others in their home countries to use social and digital media to affect change in relevant causes such as youth engagement, recycling, and girls’ education.

Participant students are currently living in 19 U.S. states on year-long high school exchange programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of States’ Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs: the American Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE), the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX), and the Kennedy Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) programs.

Students were competitively selected to take part in the Youth TechCamp based on their participation in the Global New Media Lab six month online prerequisite component of the program, which guided students through the process of developing a Social Media for Social Change Campaign using the world’s most powerful online platforms.
