Community policing in Montenegro with Dr Edward Denmark

PH International Montenegro finalized the intense Community Policing training targeting the 1st generation of police officers who are going to implement the Legal Culture curriculum for youth – together with teachers – in 5 northeast municipalities. Policeman within MCEP had unique opportunity to attend excellent CP training held by Dr Edward Denmark, Harvard Massachusetts USA. The training agenda was focused on understanding the essence of CP philosophy, approach and ways to include it in everyday work of police centers. The participants expressed the biggest satisfaction with the training and MR Denmark, wishing more trainings on CP. One of the most valuable parts of the training was creation of the local action plans for community policing which will be implemented within MCEP. PH International Montenegro then organized constructive and inspiring meetings with representatives of Police centers in Berane and Plav in follow up to the Community Policing training. The agenda of the meetings was focused on presenting the achieved results in the target region and unique and most valuable support MR Edward Denmark has offered to the policemen and police management. Both in Plav and Berane were agreed further steps regarding including the elements, approach and philosophy of the community policing in their everyday work. At the end of the first Dr Demark’s visit to the MCEP, PH International Montenegro hosted a high level meeting with senior managers of the Police Directorate and representatives of the USA Embassy in Podgorica (INL, ICITAP), with the aim to reflect on the results of the CP training and discuss further steps in the implementation of MCEP.
