Manana Chkhaidze, civics teacher and principal of Kakuti village public school in Kobuleti municipality summarized the results of students' participation in civics projects.
Irma Gordeladze is a civic education teacher at Baileti Village Public School. She teaches students what is active citizenship and how to solve community and school problems. Irma Gordeladze is actively involved in environmental protection activities and promotes public awareness of the issue.
Together with her followers, she protested against the extraction of inert materials from the bank of Achi River in Ozurgeti municipality. As a result of her efforts, the community united to protect the unique nature of the river bank and the extraction works have been suspended.
Giulgiun Mamedkhanova is from Takhalo village in Marneuli municipality. She is a third-year student at Tbilisi State University. At the same time, she is a volunteer journalist, beginner filmmaker, author of the cognitive program at Radio “Marneuli” and intern in the theater “Era”.
Nana Margania is a civic education teacher of Vartsikhe Village Public School. Ms. Nana is one of the winners of the program’s equipment contest. As Nana said, her involvement in the program activities helped her in professional growth and development of her practical skills. Moreover, she has become a leading teacher. She emphasized that civic education lessons become more interesting for her students. Civics supplemental books created within MT program helped them develop their knowledge and skills and apply this knowledge into practice.
Students from different public schools of Shida Kartli, Kvem Kartli, Imereti, Kakheti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Adjara and Guria regions within USAID civic education program “Momavlis Taoba” presented the results of their civics projects.
Civics club students of the Anaga village public school decided to improve the water problem in the community. The students conducted a survey that showed that the school and kindergarten had water shortages and the village clinic had no water supply at all and that this was the most important problem to be addressed in the village.
Students of the public school of the Gantiadi village in the Tsalka municipality decided to improve road safety for the school community, as the school is located near the central road, and students often crossed this road. Students wrote a letter to the local authorities requesting support for painting zebra crossings and installing road signs in front of the school.
