About

IMPLEMENTATION TIMEFRAME: October 01, 2019-September 30, 2024

FUNDER: U.S. State Department, Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan

The goal of the “Tavush Outreach Project” is to increase Tavush citizens' understanding of U.S. politics, culture and values and promote among them positive dispositions and respect towards Americans that will support the U.S. technical assistance and partnership agenda in Armenia. For the 1st year of the project this goal will be achieved through a concentrated U.S. government outreach effort by offering English language and other instruction to approximately 5,465 Tavush youth and young adults and providing diverse capacity building programs throughout the region (with gradual expansion each year). As a result of these activities, program participants will gain competence in English language as they learn about the U.S. and the practices of democracy and active citizenship while also acquiring hard and soft skills that will assist them in their daily lives.

The project consists of 2 components:

Component 1: Free-of-charge annual after-school instruction of American English for 60 adolescents in 3 remote sites of Noyemberyan, Berdavan and Koghb.

Component 2: Establishment of a new American Libarary and Training Center in the region’s administrative center of Ijevan and promotion of U.S. cultural content combined with diverse training programs for local community members on soft and hard skills that are vital for practicing democratic values and active citizenship.

The American Library and Training Center is located at the Ijevan Branch of Yerevan State University (Tavush region, Ijevan, Usanoghakan 3) Tel.: (+374 98) 56 51 21; 51 58 28; E-Mail: Americanlibrary@ph-int.org
