Georgia | Adjara Community Policing Initiative | 13 Apr 2020

ACPI has started to pilot online lessons on Legal Culture, which are taught by civics teachers and police officers together for 9th and 10th graders.

Three online pilot lessons were held in Khikhadziri public school of Khulo Municipality, Salibauri #2 public school of Khelvachauri Municipality and Daba Qeda public school of Qeda Municipality. Teachers and police officers have conducted online lessons on topics, such as children’s rights, tolerance, gambling and internet games. Pilot lessons were held with Microsoft Teams and Zoom platforms. The lessons were quite interactive. There were lots of questions to the police officers, group work and online quizzes.

Based on the lessons learned from the pilot, Legal Culture module will be fully transferred to online teaching. Recommendations and guidelines will be given to teachers and police officers, after which they will start to deliver Legal Culture Online Lessons in 32 schools of 5 municipalities in Adjara Region.

ACPI aims to raise student’s awareness on legal issues through community pollicing initiatives, one of which is Legal Socialisation in Schools.
