Mentorship Camp for Civics Teachers | 3 Mar 2016


On February 19-23, 2016 mentorship camp for civics teachers was held in Ikalto, Kakheti region. Camp aimed to support professional development of civics teachers, promote use of MT civics supplemental textbooks, provide instruction to teachers on the development of lesson plans and facilitate sharing of the best practices among civics teachers from different regions of Georgia. Regional implementing partners of MT project also took part in a camp and facilitated activities of teachers.

Students Donate Adapted Books to Children with Special Needs | 19 Feb 2016


Civics club students of Kutaisi public school #14 held carried out a campaign to support beneficiaries of a day care center for children with special needs. Slogan of the campaign was “Donate one Adapted Book to Children’s Day Care Center”.

Civics Students of the Village Eshtia public school #1 implemented a mini-grant project to promote historical monuments of the village and help to improve the school’s canteen.

Students of Village Ruisi public school #3 carried out a project, supported by MT mini-grant “Children against Bullying”. The project aimed to increase awareness of students about bullying and its negative effects.

Open Lesson - “Cooperation with Local Government” | 15 Feb 2016


On February 10, civics open lesson was held at Batumi public school #23 with 10th grade students on cooperation with local Government. A representative from the local Government was invited to take part in the lesson.

Award of the Blog Contest Winners | 12 Feb 2016


On February 10, young citizens, winners of MT’s blog contest from different regions of Georgia were awarded for their blogs in thematic nominations, such as Young Volunteer, Young Ombudsman, Environmental Defender, Citizen Journalist, Healthy Lifestyle Advocate and Young Educator.

Group Visits of Civics Students | 5 Feb 2016


Civics students from Shida Kartli region visited Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR). Head of the institute hosted the students and provided information about the projects, implemented by IWPR and their results in conflict resolution.

Students Advocate for Healthy Food | 28 Jan 2016


Civics students of Ruisi public school # 3 implemented a classroom project “Healthy Life Style”. At first they conducted a research among the school students how they liked school canteen and food offered there. Students interviewed 50 students aged between 10-16 years. The most of the interviewed students said that didn’t like sweets, beverage with soda and chips offered in the canteen and that they would like to be offered healthy food at the canteen.

MT Students and Teachers Summarize the Results of the Academic Semester | 24 Dec 2015


In December, 2015 MT program hosted end-of the semester events in Adjara, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Zemo Svaneti regions. The events featured presentations of successful initiatives by civics students and teachers. Students, teachers, school administration officials and local government representatives took part in the events and learned more about the concrete results of civics education activities of youth.

Civics Teachers Share Experiences Through Model Lesson | 21 Dec 2015


On December 16, village Dzeveri public school civics teacher Lela Bukhradze and her class of 9th grade hosted a model lesson for teachers of the Shida Kartli region. Democracy was the topic of the lesson. Class used civics supplemental textbooks of the Momavlis Taoba Project during the model lesson.
