Georgia | Momavlis Taoba - Civic Education Program | 21 Dec 2015

On December 16, village Dzeveri public school civics teacher Lela Bukhradze and her class of 9th grade hosted a model lesson for teachers of the Shida Kartli region. Democracy was the topic of the lesson. Class used civics supplemental textbooks of the Momavlis Taoba Project during the model lesson. Civics teacher applied different pedagogical methods to stimulate critical thinking among students, to help them listen to diverse opinions and question the assumptions of their peers. Model Lesson was attended by 17 colleague civics teachers from different towns and villages of Shida Kartli region and provided a great opportunity for professional exchange and discussion.

The lesson was highly interactive. Students actively took part in the classroom discussion and brought different examples of a democratic society. At the end of the lesson, guests provided feedback to their colleague teacher.

Civics model lessons took part in all 11 regions of Georgia and were organized in the framework of the USAID-funded Momavlis Taoba Project, which is implemented by PH International
