International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Students from MT program partner schools conducted informational campaigns in different regions of Georgia dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

In Guria region, students of the village Sachamiaseri public school organized a meeting at school to discuss the literature and examples of real facts of violence against women. Teachers, school administration officials and community members joined students at this meeting.

Students from the village Kohnari public school prepared informational flyers and disseminated them among community members. Hotline number, needed in case of violence was also communicated to public.

Informational campaigns, meetings and discussions were also held in Ureki, Konchkati, Kv. Bakhvi, Gurianti, Makvaneti, Jurukveti and village Ozurgeti public schools.

Similar campaigns were organized by students of MT partner schools in Kakheti region. Students from Telavi #6 and the village Kurdgelauri public schools consulted with NGOs working on women rights, organized a march, prepared flyers and disseminated them among community members. Students in the village Kisiskhevi organized debates on early marriage issues. Students of Village Matani #2 public school organized discussion on women’s rights.
