On March 25th, in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), 120 students from 20 schools and civics clubs of Guria region participated in “What Can I Do for My Community.”

On March 15, 2011, the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, John Bass, and Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irene Kurdadze, attended a presentation by 53 school civics clubs at Tbilisi Public School #72, an event organized by PH International in partnership with Tbilisi Youth House.

PH International, in the framework of the USAID-funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, launched social media trainings for students in school civics clubs. The two-day trainings teach young leaders in grades 9-12 how to use social media for civic engagement.

From January 25-28, 2011, a training of civics education teacher trainers was conducted at the Centre for Training and Consultancy, in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT). The event was instrumental in preparing ACETT trainers for their upcoming work with nearly 500 civics teachers throughout Georgia.

On January 17, 2011, a test launch of the Teacher Training Program took place at the Center for Training and Consultancy in Tbilisi, as part of the USAID-funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, implemented by PH International.

On January 26, 2011, Akhaltsikhe Public School #1 hosted a ceremony for civic education students who participated in an arts and essay contest through the USAID-funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, implemented by PH International.

U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John R. Bass joined the Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkin to launch U.S. Government assistance for civic education for Georgian students on December 15 at Rustavi Public School #15. The Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program, implemented by PH International aims to improve the quality and scope of civic education in Georgian schools and to promote the participation of youth in Georgia’s democracy and development. The three-year program is implemented in nine regions and covers up to 500 schools.

On November 17, 2010, the regional launch of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT) was held in the town of Tevali, Georgia, in the Kakheti region of the country. The event was hosted by PH International and Telavi Education Development and Employment Center, an ACETT partner NGO in the region.

On November 12, 2010, the regional launch of the USAID-funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT) was held in the Ozurgeti region of Georgia. The event was hosted by PH International and Guria Youth Resource Center, an ACETT partner NGO in the region.

On October 13-14 PH International, in the framework of USAID funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT) conducted working seminar for nine regional partner NGOs. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the partnership’s programmatic and financial procedures, and elaborate detailed action plans for the promotion of civic education in all program regions.
