In October 2011 GLSP organized the trainings for ethnic minority teachers and police officers who will conduct lessons in Legal Culture in Public Schools of Marneuli and Samtskhe-Javakheti Region.

On October 13-16, 2011 GLSP conducted 3-day training for law enforcement officers and teachers that enrolled in the program this year. Ten law enforcement officers, fifteen civic education teachers and two school principals from Gori and Samtredia participated in the training.

ACETT school civics club students identified the needs of IDP communities in Khurvaleti, Georgia and mobilized local government and other stakeholders to meet these needs with joint efforts.

On October 31, Access Program in Akhaltsikhe hosted a Halloween party. Among the numerous guests were:Nina Jugheli, English Language Programs Coordinator at U.S. Emabssy/PAS and Walter Gaddis, U.S. Embassy ELF in Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe Javakheti regions.

On October 31, Access Program in Rustavi dedicated an enrichment activity to celebration of a popular American traditional holiday of Halloween.

One of the components of Legal Socialization Program, “Social Media at Schools” is to offer students an updated program. This direction of Legal Socialization Program was first launched last year and achieved significant success. However, considering the experience acquired so far, the program content was updated and now is available for new students as well as for winners of last year bloggers competition.

An enrichment session organized on September 30 for the Access Program students from Ozurgeti was devoted to famous American inventions. The idea of the topic came from Rachael Evarts, Peace Corps Volunteer, who has been working with Guria Youth Resource Center (Access Program implementing NGO in the region of Guria) since July 2011. Consequently, she has planned and implemented the enrichment session in close cooperation with the Access Program Coordinator in Guria region.

On September 30, Access Program in Gori hosted three FLEX program alumni: Lika Okropiridze, Mariam Ghvamichava and Maka Mukhadze. The purpose of the enrichment activity was to increase the motivation of Access Program students to learn English in order to become participants of FLEX-like international exchange programs and return to their communities as the bearers and followers of western democratic values.

On September 29, Judy Elliott, former senior ELF who had worked in Georgia for over two years, delivered an enrichment session on Project Based Learning for the Access Program students from Rustavi.

On September 19, Access Program in Akhaltsikhe carried out the showing of a film called “Soul Surfer”. Before showing the movie, Access Program English Teacher made a brief presentation on leadership followed by a pre-watching activity during which the teacher discussed the title of the film with the students and provided them with the vocabulary and tips on what to pay attention to while watching the film.
