Premier of the play “Poetry is the Heart of Mine” in Zugdidi
With the ELCE Program ELTT, Peter Bohan and ELCE alumnae teacher Elene Changelia (from Tsalenjikha Public School #1) taking the lead, ELCE Program students breathed life into a staged performance of “Poetry is the Heart of Mine”, based on the life story of famous Georgian poet and scholar Terenti Graneli. Elene Changelia not only directed the play, but also wrote the original script. Over 100 people attended the premiere of the English performance of this original production staged at Zugdidi National Drama Theater on June 11, 2013. The Zugdidi National Drama Theater hosted the event without any charge. Among the special guests of the day were Jeremy Richart, U.S. Embassy Press Attaché as well as representatives of Zugdidi local administration and ELCE alumni teachers from Samegrelo region.
The show was a hands-on, three-month language education workshop for students to learn, create and have fun by using the English language, and promoting English-language and Georgian-culture theatre in education.
