Georgia | English Language through Civic Education | 22 Apr 2013

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, students and teachers from the ELCE participant Schools of Zugdidi Public School #9, Tsalenjikha Public School #1, Abkhazeti Public School # 12, Kvemokvaloni Public School and Senaki Public School #1 organized the activities of trash pickup, planting trees and a community awareness campaign by making presentations about how to help take care of environment. Over 250 students in five different locations of Samegrelo participated in the Earth Day celebration activities.

“Implementing such activities is such a great way of bringing the students of various grades together”, admitted Nana Litvinenko, English Teacher at Kvemokvaloni Village Public School. “Programs like ELCE inspire our youth and give them ideas and tools for being more active citizens of their communities. If kids start to learn that they can do things with their own hands and involve the rest of the community, our country will definitely have a brighter future” – she added.
