Youth Forums

Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 22 May 2013

In April 2013 ACETT students took part in youth forums in all regions of Georgia. Youth Forums provided students with a great opportunity to identify the needs, critical for their schools and communities and address local decision-makers with these problems. Participant of each forum were divided into work-groups, which were facilitated by civics teachers. Students started with identification of the local problems and later on prioritized the topics for discussions, such as infrastructure rehabilitation needs, children’s rights, civic rights and responsibilities, environmental problems, importance of healthy lifestyle, citizen safety, education and entertainment. Project ideas were developed on topics, which received majority of the votes. Later in a day, students presented their project ideas to local decision-makers, who included the representatives of local municipalities and city councils, regional educational resource centers, businesses and media. Youth Forums were covered by media.
