PH International is the primary implementer of the English Access Microscholarship Program (Access program) since September 2015. Accss program is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and aims to make the study of English language more accessible to economically disadvantaged youth. In addition, while working on their language skills, the participants will become familiar with aspects of US culture and thus develop a deeper understanding of current issues in North American society. A greater sensitivity to cultural differences, coupled with the acquired language skills, will enable the participants to take advantage of opportunities that had previously been unavailable to them.

13-15 year old non-elite students study English for a period of two years.  Each student receives at least 360 hours of English language instructions, enhancement activities, and intensive summer programs. ACCESS program run with PH International participation has worked in 18 locations, including: a) 2015 - 2017 (166 youth): Kharkiv, Odesa, Poltava, Vinnytsya, Tokmak, and Chernihivka (Zaporizhzhya Oblast); 2016 - 2018 (120 youth): Odesa, Poltava, Mykolayiv, Zaporizhzhya, Slovyansk, and Kramatorsk; 2017 - 2019 (265 youth): Slovyansk, Severodonetsk, Starobilsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Berdiansk, Bakhmut, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Mykolayiv, and Zaporizhzhya.

The curriculum includes the following modules: Communicative English, American Culture, English through Computers, English through Video and Movies, Communicative Grammar, English through Songs and Games, American History through Visual Arts, English through Sports, English through Arts and Crafts, Leadership training and community service projects. Access curriculum also includes topics of interest related to the subjects taught at school, such as Geography, History, Biology, Art, etc.

Final event of 2019 – 2020 Access Alumni Civic Engagement Program in Mariupol | 11 Jun 2020

On June 11, 2020, the final online presentation was held by participants of the 2019 – 2020 Access Alumni Civic Engagement Program in Mariupol supported by the U.S. Embassy and administered by Project Harmony, Inc. (PH International) in partnership with NGOs Mariupol Union of Youth, and Institute of Public Development ‘Ortega-y-Gasset’. RELO Timothy Collins who took part in the final event, thanked the alumni, their trainers and volunteers for their active participation in the Program and community contributions.
