American Library and Training Center Community Event on “Vital Talks of Hope, Determination and Action”

On April 30, 2022 Cultural Attache Marcia Y. Outlaw and Education/Cultural Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Armenia Hasmik Mikayelyan visitied Ijevan to participate in the “Vital Talks of Hope, Determination and Action” event organized by the “American Library and Training Center” (ALTC). The event was organized at the big conference hall of the Ijevan Branch of Yerevan State University. The Head of Branch, professors and students as well as representatives from Ijevan Municipality and regional NGOs were present at the event.

The welcoming speech was delivered by Mariam Martirosyan, PHI Armenia Country Director, and the first vital talk was given by Marcia Y. Outlaw on the topic “You Never Know What You’re Going To Get: A story of perseverance and optimism.”

Then Lena Harutyunyan, Founder and Managing Director of “Teach Me More” Rehabilitation Center for children with special needs gave a talk on "Each deadlock creates new opportunities."

Vahan Mukuchyan, Head of Rheumatology and Immunology Service at “Nairi” Medical Center, spoke about "Volunteering for the development of the country."

The next speaker was Suren Danielyan, Head of Armenian Federation of Mountaineering and Hiking, and his speech title was "Believe in You and You will succeed."

Ani Qochar, a writer, well-known journalist and a cancer survivor shared her experience with the audience to assure that there is always hope and someone should always dream of celebrating life after cancer. Her speech title was "By my example."

The last speaker Sofik Minasyan, Founder of “Arpi” NGO spoke on the "Effectiveness of self-empowerment groups". Her speech was followed by a short concert given by soldiers who survived 2020 Artsakh war.

The “American Library and Training Center” (ALTC) is established under the auspices of “Tavush Outreach Program” funded through the U.S. Department of State Public Diplomacy Section grant and implemented by PH International.
