School based civics club students of Rustavi public school # 3 decided to increase awareness about Rustavi city and its history among the residents of the city.
Rustavi Mayor's Office supported students' initiative and provided free public transport permits for students. Students were briefing passengers about the history of the city and telling stories about individuals whose names are given to the streets.
As a part of this initiative, the students moved to various public places of the city, including Rustavi Cultural and Recreation Park where students disseminated information booklets among the public. The citizens of Rustavi welcomed this initiative with high enthusiasm and interest. The students were encouraged to implement similar projects in the future.
"The main goal of the project was to inform the population about the history of the city and about the people whose names are given to streets in Rustavi. We want to continue the initiative to demonstrate the importance of input of people in the history of the country"-said Maka Mosakhlishvili, Civic Education Teacher and Civics Club Mentor.
