Professional Development Trip to Georgia

Moldova | Moldova Legal Socialization Program | 13 Feb 2020

The Professional Development Trip offered the opportunity to meet and talk with the Georgian counterparts involved in current INL-funded legal socialization programs (SCOPE – Schools, Community & Police Engagement and ACPI – Adjara Community Policing Initiative) and with representatives of Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Education, to observe classrooms in Kutaisi and Gardabani cities, to get acquainted regarding the enrichment/afterschool activities supporting youth involvement in law enforcement and problem-solving processes, and to discuss programs’ highlights and challenges to date.

Of particular interest for participants was to understand the process of LS curriculum development, the methodologies and pedagogical approaches incorporated in the handbooks for teachers and students, as well as how the partnerships between teachers and police work during the delivery of LS modules in the classrooms.

Upon return in Moldova, the CDT team had a better grasp regarding the development and implementation of MSLP curriculum and future community policing activities.
