Moldovan pilot schools together with police participate in the Small Grants Program competition | mlsp | 25 Nov 2020


Moldovan pilot schools together with police are submitting applications for participation in the Small Grants Program competition for community projects.

From October 26-29, 2020, students, teachers, and police officers from the pilot regions of the Legal Socialization Program in Schools in the Republic of Moldova (MLSP) participated in two face-to-face, two-day action planning workshops on community engagement. 
The purpose of this activity was to contribute to the strengthening of partnerships between pilot schools, students, and local police inspectorates by providing support for the implementation of local projects and community safety actions following the philosophy and principles of community policing and the legal socialization of young people. The teaching teams and students are using the project proposal writing abilities gained during the workshops to develop projects that address community and school safety issues.

"Education for Legal Socialization" classes have started in Moldovan pilot-schools | mlsp | 11 Sep 2020


Beginning with the first week of the new school year the delivery of the optional course "Education for Legal Socialization" has started in pilot-schools from Cahul, Floresti, Soroca, Straseni, Ungheni districts and Chisinau municipality as part of the Moldovan Legal Socialization Program (MLSP).

Workshop for the teachers who will pilot the Afterschool clubs “STEM & Forensics” in schools | mlsp | 28 Aug 2020


On August 24, 2020, a training workshop for 24 teachers participating in the PH’s Moldova Legal Socialization Program took place in Chișinău. Beginning in September 2020 the teachers will conduct the “STEM & Forensics” enrichment activities for the 8th - 10th graders in pilot schools representing Straseni, Ungheni, Floresti, Soroca, Cahul, Causeni and Glodeni districts and Chisinau municipality.

First face-to-face trainings for the Moldovan Teaching Teams | mlsp | 12 Aug 2020


From August 3-7, two face-to-face, three-day trainings for Teaching Teams made up of police officers and teachers were organized and conducted in Chisinau.  These Teaching Teams will work together to implement the optional course “Education for Legal Socialization” for the 8th graders in 22 pilot schools as part of the Moldovan Legal Socialization Program (MLSP).

Moldovan Curriculum Development Team members participate in the first face-to-face workshop | mlsp | 8 Jul 2020


From July 1-3, members of the Moldovan Curriculum Development Team (CDT), as part of the PH’s Moldova Legal Socialization Program, represented by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and the Police General Inspectorate participated in a workshop to finalize the optional course “Education for Legal Socialization”. The optional course will be piloted starting from September 2020 for 8th graders in 22 pilot schools from Chisinau, Cahul, Ungheni, Floresti, Soroca and Straseni districts. During the workshop the CDT members finalized the curricular documents for the first 2 modules and tested the teaching methods according to previously developed didactic projects.

The main purpose of the optional course "Education for Legal Socialization" is to raise students’ awareness of citizens’ rights and obligations and to increase the legal culture of young people in a society based on the principles of the rule of law.

The implementation of the optional course "Education for Legal Socialization" is the first experience of an institutionalized classroom format between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and the Ministry of Internal Affairs that aims to positively change the perception of police activity in schools.

The innovative element is that the course will be taught by teaching teams made up of police officers and teachers. Prior to the beginning of the school year the teaching teams will be trained to implement the legal socialization curriculum and to use team-teaching methods and approaches in classes.

Launch Conference of the Legal Socialization in Moldovan Schools Program | mlsp | 2 Mar 2020


The Moldova Legal Socialization Program (MLSP) was officially launched on February 27, 2020 and aims to strengthen the rule of law, to support Moldovan communities in preventing juvenile delinquency, and develop a positive relationship between juveniles and law enforcement authorities. The event was attended by approximately 50 local school principals, teachers, and police officers from the 4 pilot regions selected for the first stage of implementation within the program (Chisinau, Straseni, Ungheni and Soroca).

During the event, representatives from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the General Police Inspectorate presented the policies, objectives and experiences in the field of legal socialization and prevention of juvenile delinquency along with their vision related to the implementation of the program.

The participants from the pilot communities were also informed about the goal, objectives, activities and expected results within the program, their role in working with young people on legal socialization activities and effective international implementation practices and lessons learned.

Professional Development Trip to Georgia | mlsp | 13 Feb 2020


During the period of 2-7 of February 2020 the MLSP staff together with six members of the Program Advisory Committee/Curriculum Development Team representing the Police General Inspectorate and Ministry of Education, Culture and Research have visited Georgia for studying the best practices and experiences of implementation of legal socialization and community policing programs.

PH Moldova signed a MoU with General Police Inspectorate and Ministry of Education | mlsp | 6 Jan 2020


PH International Moldova signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Police Inspectorate of the Republic of Moldova (December 19, 2019) and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (January 3, 2020) regarding implementation of the Legal Socialization Program in Moldovan schools (MLSP).
