On October 29 principals’ conference of USAID’s new civic education Momavlis Taoba Program (MT) was held at the Ambassador Hotel in Tbilisi. The conference was organized by PH international and Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

Conference participants were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Lia Gigauri, Deputy Director of USAID DG Office David Stonehill and MT Chief of Party, Marina Ushveridze. Participants learned about the new resources and opportunities that MT will create to promote school-based civic education and greater civic engagement of young people.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia spoke about the upcoming revisions in the national curriculum and stressed out increased emphasis on introduction of civics from earlier grades in all schools of Georgia. PH International and its partners explained all benefits school-based civic education will bring to students, teachers and local communities and highlighted the role of school administration officials in the promotion and improvement of civic education in schools of Georgia.

A total of 110 school administration officials from MT’s partner schools from Tbilisi, Kakheti, Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti regions took part in the conference.
