Students improved road safety in the school community

Georgia | Momavlis Taoba - Civic Education Program | 8 Aug 2019

A school-based civics club of Tbilisi public school #213 successfully cooperated with the Transport Department of Tbilisi City Hall to improve road safety in the school community.

The club members are actively engaged in civics activities and often try to solve community problems. The students conducted a community survey and found out that one of the main problems was the absence of speed bumps. To address the issue, the students applied to the Transport Department of Tbilisi City Hall and as a result of successful cooperation speed bumps were arranged near the school territory. In addition, the students prepared informational booklets, posters, and disseminated them in the community to increase public awareness about the road safety issues.
