Marina Ushveridze joined PH International in August 2010 as Director of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, bringing to the organization over 10 years of experience in managing and implementing educational and social development initiatives. Prior to joining PH, Marina was National Director of the renowned Children’s Tolerance Education Program at Save the Children, which introduced skills in citizenship, cooperation, participation and peace building to children and youth in the South Caucasus. This program grew from a groundbreaking series of television shows, to a formal Peace and Tolerance Curriculum, which was selected for the 2009 Compendium of Good Practices in Human Rights Education, published by OSCE, UNHCHR, Council of Europe and UNESCO. Marina is also a founder and Board Member of the Georgian Association of Social Workers, the nation’s first professional organization focused on the development of social work in Georgia. Marina has held positions of responsibility with Population Services International, Booz-Allen & Hamilton and the Georgian newspaper 7 Days. In these positions, she effectively worked with local and international NGOs and government partners, and managed human resources and finances.
Marina holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Georgian-American Institute of Public Administration.
