The Project Harmony Training Program for Women in the New Parliament of Ukraine took place in January, 1999. Nine participants, including legislators, aides and journalists traveled to the United States for an intensive twelve-day program in New York/New Jersey and Washington, DC. The program increased participants’ abilities to improve the legislative process in Ukraine by increasing the effectiveness of women as legislators and increasing the understanding of how policies affect women. The program provided participants with a comparative look at the American political process through a number of focussed lectures, seminars and meetings with leading educational centers, political organizations and politicians. | |
