Information Dissemination and Equal Access (IDEA) - Ukraine

The Information Dissemination and Equal Access (IDEA) Project was a partnership between PH International and the Microsoft Unlimited Potential Program. IDEA created and supported community-based Internet centers which provided residents with free technology training and access to computers. These aptly named IDEA Centers increase the quality of education and the level of social and cultural development in the communities where they operate. IDEA also worked to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged groups by supplying specialized computer software and training aimed at expanding their educational, employment, and community-building opportunities.

Centers were opened in seven cities: Kherson, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Donetsk, Simferopol, Chernivtsi, and Cherkasy.

21.09.2015 | Using new information technologies for active community work
On September 12, 2015, Coordinator of the IDEA Training Center, which operates as a subsidiary of the NGO "Volyn Perspectives", took part in the conference of socially active students, members of the international youth organization AIESEC in Lutsk. During a session conducted by the IDEA Coordinator Nataliya Lytvyna, the participants discussed the possibility of using new information technologies to build public speaches, got familiar with TED-performances that can be found at many channels on the Internet and used to improve one’s skills, and worked on tips for speakers-beginners .
31.08.2015 | Presentation of games in KODU GAME LAB for junior school students
Presentation of games in KODU GAME LAB for primary school children was held in Tokmak city children's library by IDEA Center operated by NGO 'Instutute of Public Development 'Ortega-y-Gasset'.
Children got familiar with games created by participants of the training course "KODU GAME LAB: visual and object-oriented programming." They were very interested in learning how they can create their own games, and carefully listened to the trainer who told them about KODU tools and their possibilities. After the presentation of the trainer, children were excited to try to create landscape for their future games.
19.08.2015 | Training "Steps to Successful Employment" for members of non-governmental organizations

On August 19, 2015, trainers of NGO "Parostok" conducted a training "Steps to Successful Employment" for 15 members of non-governmental organizations. The training was carried out within IDEA Project Powered by Microsoft YouthSpark.

During the training, such issues were discussed with participants as ways of job search, using new Internet technilogies during job search, resume and cover letter writing, communication with a potentiall employer during job interview, and self-presentation skills.

22.10.2012 | Thanks to IDEA trainings, friends and relatives have become closer!
My name is Nana. I am a refugee from Abkhasia, and I did not communicate for a long time with my friends and classmates. After attending IDEA Ukraine computer trainings at the charity fund Rokada, I learned how to use Internet after which the entire world has become closer.

After the first phase of the comuter training, I managed to find employment. Now I work as accountant assistant in one of local companies. In a near future, I plan to expand my knowledge and learn more about personal computer. I am very grateful to the IDEA - Lutsk trainer who developed an indivitual training program for me and helped me to get a lot of new knowledge within a short time. Anastasiya Protsuyk (20), Lutsk.
25.09.2012 | "I have found a job thanks to IDEA Training Center", - Maria Muzhuk.
From her old friend, Maria learnt about the IDEA Training Center in Rivne, and about a possibility to take computer courses free-of-charge in convenient for her time. At the courses, the woman quickly learnt how to work with texts, tables, databases, and Internet. She studied hard, accurately attended all classes, and also visited the Center additionally to improve the knowledge she was receiving in the training sessions and practice her Internet skills. Even before she graduated from the training courses, Maria had a successful interview for a position of the head of a warehouse. She now works there. The woman has been successfully coping with her workload, and she satisfied with her salary. ‘It is thanks to the IDEA Training Center, I have this job that I had been looking for a long time” – said Maria during her most recent visit to the Center.
