USA | Community Connections Hosting | 20 Jan 2011

PH International (PH) is pleased to have been awarded the “Promoting Inclusiveness for People with Disabilities” Community Connections Program (CC) which is managed by the Bureau of Europe and Eurasia at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and administered by World Learning (WL). In this capacity, PH will welcome ten professionals working to promote the rights and inclusiveness of people with disabilities in Serbia to Vermont from March 30 – April 20, 2011. The Community Connections Program is designed to promote public diplomacy, contribute to economic and democratic reform and advance democratic and free-market principles through the exchange of cultural ideas and values and professional expertise among participants, U.S. families and local community host organizations. More specifically, the goals of this program are to familiarize Serbian professionals about all aspects of the inclusion of people with disabilities and how they operate in "Mainstream USA" as well as special institutions, formal to non-formal education, adult education, skills development and job preparedness and training services. Serbian participants will learn what legislation, regulations, and protocols exist to ensure access and inclusion of all people with disabilities into the education and employment sectors as well as the importance of a multi-sector, community-driven approach to people with disabilities.
