Young Leaders visit the U.S. to Learn about Youth Leadership

USA | UK Young Leaders | 28 Aug 2014

From August 2-16th, PH International hosted 10 young leaders from the United Kingdom as part of the U.K. YoungLeaders exchange program funded by the U.S. Embassy London Public Affairs Office in England. During the two-week exchange participants visited organizations and interacted with their American peers in Vermont, Boston, and Washington, DC. While in Vermont, participants enjoyed learning about community organizing through Vermont Interfaith Action and VPIRG. In DC, U.K. participants engaged in a lively debate with American teens participating in the YMCA’s Youth and Government program.  U.K. Participants learned about different forms of leadership, gained effective leadership skills and were exposed to various programs that promote leadership in young people. One participant noted “I understand more so than ever, that leadership comes in many forms-from the quiet to loud, individual to collective, political or not. “
