07.08.2015 | mt | Students Fundraising and Advocacy Action Enables for a Healthy Environment in the School

Damaged water and sewerage system at the school caused sanitation problems in the building for years. Students cooperated successfully with governmental and non-governmental organizations to get more funding for the project. Gamgebeli of Chkhorotskhu municipality transferred 1500 GEL to the school account for rehabilitation of running water and sewerage system. Head of the Liberty Bank Chkhorotskhu Branch contributed 500 GEL for purchasing necessary equipment. Kirtskhi #1 public school’s administration also supported students’ initiative and funded rehabilitation works at the school.

In response to the initiative of the Iveroni Civics Club, the Social Service of the Mayor’s Office issued free travel cards to the 131 students of the Iveroni School. The letter, which Iveroni Civic Club received from the Mayor’s Office stated that students from other private schools of Tbilisi will also receive free transportation cards.

The Civics Club proposed to school administration a plan to use the land for tillage and farming. The school then forwarded the proposal to the head of the Educational Resource Center of the Tsalenjikha municipality. Based on the school’s cost estimate, the Municipality Governing Board allocated 2,977 Lari to the school account.

On May 23rd, 2015 Guliko Janova, head of the English Department at Samtskhe-Javakakheti and I planned organized an English Language Teachers’ conference at Samtsikhe-Javakakheti university. 45 English teachers from the region attended Approximately,25 ELCE II student teachers and experienced teachers attended the conference
